Countryman: The all-new mini SUV made its debut late in the 2017 model year, available in Cooper, Cooper S, and John Cooper Works spec. And now the Countryman
gets an electrified variant, featuring a 134-hp, turbo 1.5-liter
inline-three for the front axle and an 87-hp electric motor driving the
rear. Combined system output is a respectable 221 horsepower and 284
lb-ft. A 7.6-kWh lithium-ion battery stores enough juice for up to 12
miles of electric-only motivation. Pricing starts at $37,650 for the
plug-in, which hits dealerships this fall. Each conventionally powered
Countryman receives minor changes for the new year.
